SP20 Member Spotlight 5: Ishaan Kavoori
1) Hello Ishaan! Welcome to the Weekly Member Spotlight! How’s it going? How do you feel going into Week 6?
School is keeping me way too busy. It feels like the workload is more than it was last quarter. I don’t know if it’s just because of the remoteness or if the classes are harder or it’s just MMW. I can’t shake the nagging feeling that MMW is going to hit me with something in Week 6. I don’t know why.
2) So I’ve noticed you are pretty involved at ACM. I see you at events sometimes, and I remember your bit at the talent show! Care to elaborate more on why you enjoy being involved in our organization, and what it does for you?
ACM is full of people who share common interests with me (wE liKE tO CoDe) so naturally I get along quite well with them. It’s through ACM that I’ve met some of my closest friends since coming to UCSD. ACM events are events I look forward to.
3) How did you get involved with the club? What is your favorite thing about ACM?
I attended the kickoff back in fall quarter. I started attending some of the events and over time the organization grew on me. My favorite part about ACM is the community. Everyone here is smart and super fun to be around!
4) What are your hobbies/what do you enjoy in your free time? Have you picked anything up recently because of the sudden increase in free time?
Increase in free time??? Am I in the wrong universe???? I’m quite certain that my net increase in free time is negative. Since the quarter started I have been buried in homework, just trying to get through day-to-day and turn in all my assignments on time. In the free time that I have I might just play some mobile games on my iPad or watch Youtube. Sometimes I also practice the piano but I have to make sure it’s not while my parents are working because it might disturb them while they’re on calls . There’s definitely more things I would like to do if I had more time such as playing around with this Arduino and playing more chess. If you do happen to find my missing free time, do let me know please.
5) What’s the first thing you’ll go do once quarantine gets lifted?
Probably my life will be mostly the same. I might go out to some restaurants that I haven’t eaten at in a while (if they’re still in business) and contact some of my old friends to see if they’re down to meet up.
6) Favorite TV show/anime/movie quote? Favorite song?
That’s a good question, I have many quotes that I like (mostly from the MCU) and I’m not sure if I could say any of them are my favorite. Since I’m in a rush though, here is a quote (not from the MCU): “Whoever saves one life saves the world entire” — Schindler’s List (originally from the Talmud) I don’t think I have a favorite song. I usually say The Crazy Frog Song as a joke but recently 4’33 has been getting stuck in my head. I seem to hear it all the time.
